Stephen Scaffidi has served as the mayor of Oak Creek, Wisconsin since April of 2012. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, co-owner of Marketpoint Media, and a public relations consultant. 4 months after his election, a gunman killed six people at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, propelling Oak Creek into the national spotlight. He has worked since that time to communicate the values of diversity and tolerance toward others, and has met with the President, Vice President, and the First Lady on a number of initiatives related to a community’s response to incidents of hate and violence. He is the founder of Oak Creek Cares, a donor-advised fund associated with the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, whose sole mission is to raise funds to promote programs which increase the safety and security of the community.
